ETIOLOGY AND CLINICAL SPECTRUM OF ANTERIOR UVEITIS IN A TERTIARY EYE CARE HOSPITAL FROM EASTERN INDIA: A PROSPECTIVE INTERVENTIONAL STUDY

Objective: The objective is to study the etiology, clinical spectrum, management, and outcome of anterior uveitis in a tertiary eye care center Eastern India compares it with data other published reports. Methods: This was prospective interventional research performed on all (new old) patients visiting our ophthalmology OPD for treatment between January 2020 December 2022. A thorough history, examination, investigation procedures were diagnose exact etiology characteristics uveitis. After treatment, cases followed up 6 months. Results: Total seen 286, out which most common category 150 (52%) constituted population. Male 71% whereas females 29%. 61% age group 20–40 years. 60% acute, 27% chronic, 13% recurrent stage. It unilateral 74% cases. 72% clinically nongranulomatous type. Idiopathic significantly 62% For identifiable diseases, infectious cause (16%), non-infectious (12%), traumatic (10%). Infections chief tuberculosis (10%), viral (04%), leprosy (02%), while spondyloarthropathy (08%), lens-induced (04%) etiology. Before vision 15% 6/12 or better, improved after better 34% had no residual complications complication persistent posterior synechia 23% cataract 16% Conclusion: majority remained idiopathic. However, prompt diagnosis appropriate adequate follow-up could restore good without significant symptoms, sequelae, ocular morbidity
